Bodhana Sivanandan Becomes top-rated female chess player in Britain 

An 11-year-old chess prodigy from North London , Bodhana Sivanandan has made history as the top-rated female chess player in Britain according to the official April 2026 FIDE rankings..

Her Milestones in 2026

1.  In the April 2026 FIDE rating list, she attained a rating of 2366, surpassing four time British Women’s Champion Lan Yao.
2. She has broken into the world’s top 100 female players for the first time, currently ranked 72nd globally.
3.  Her rise followed exceptional performances at tournaments in France, Austria & the 4NCL which is a Britain’s top chess league in Coventry, gaining 98 rating points in a single month.
4.  In February 2026, she reached the final of the Under13 ChessKid Youth Championship, eventually finishing as the runner-up

Historical Achievements (2024–2025) made by her

1. In August 2025, she became the youngest female ever to defeat a Grandmaster in a classical game, beating 60-year-old GM Peter Wells at the British Chess Championships
2.  In October 2025, she stunned the chess world by defeating former Women’s World Champion GM Mariya Muzychuk at the European Club Cup in Rhodes, Greece.
3.  In July 2025, she became the youngest chess player to earn a Woman Grandmaster (WGM) norm at age 10, surpassing the previous record held by Hou Yifan.
4.  In 2024, she made history as the youngest person to represent England internationally in any sport at the Chess Olympiad in Hungary

Sivanandan, who only began playing chess during the 2020 lockdown after finding a discarded board at home, is widely regarded as a “generational talent” with the goal of becoming a Grandmaster by age 12.
