Karnataka Grameena Bank (KGB) was recently honoured with the National Award for Outstanding Performance in Self-Help Group (SHG) Bank Linkage for the fiscal year 2024–25.Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan presented the award to KGB General Manager V.M. Reason of Awards :
- it recognizes the bank’s significant role in rural economic empowerment and financial inclusion.
- Under the DAY-NRLM mission, KGB extended ₹2,835 crore to over 80,904 SHGs.
- Supported by Canara Bank, the institution’s capacity was strengthened by the “One State One Rural Bank” initiative according to Chairman Shreekant M. Bhandiwad.
- Chairman Shreekant M. Bhandiwad highlighted that the 2025 amalgamation or merging Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank and Karnataka Gramin Bank, has significantly strengthened the bank’s institutional framework for regional development.
