The Scientific Breakthrough :

For decades, scientists struggled to explain why certain volcanic rocks on the Moon are exceptionally rich in titanium compared to Earth’s rocks. The PRL study provides a definitive model Like

1. About 3.5 to 4 billion years ago, the Moon’s interior underwent a massive reorganisation. Heavy, titanium rich minerals like ilmenite that had formed in the upper layers sank deep into the lunar mantle because they were denser than the surrounding rock.this theory Known as ” Mantle Overturn” Theory
2.  As these titanium-rich “slugs” sank, they mixed with the hot, deep mantle. This triggered melting at high pressures, creating a unique magma that eventually erupted onto the lunar surface known as the Lunar Maria , represent Partial melting
3. The study used data from India’s Chandrayaan-2 and NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) to map these deposits. It confirmed that the high-Ti basalts are concentrated in the Oceanus Procellarum and Mare Imbrium regions. 

Importance of Breakthrough Study

1. This confirms that the Moon was once a very dynamic body with a “churning” interior rather than a static rock known as Lunar revolution ..
