Yuva VIgyani KAryakram (YUVIKA) of ISRO’s programme also known as the Young Scientist Programme, is a residential initiative designed to “catch them young” by sparking early interest in space science, technology & applications
The programme targets Class 9 students across India, providing them with a foundational understanding of emerging trends in the space sector to inspire future careers in STEM..
Core Objectives and Impact of Yuvika
- It aims to bridge the gap between theoretical textbook knowledge and practical space applications
- The curriculum is designed to develop curiosity, critical thinking & problem solving skills through immersive experiences.
- Participants are encouraged to become “brand ambassadors” for ISRO, promoting science education in their home regions..
- The selection process provides a 15% weightage to students from rural schools such as Panchayat areas , to ensure diverse representation..
Learning Experience and Activities of yuvikas
Selected students will attend a two week residential camp at one of nine major ISRO centres, including VSSC Thiruvananthapuram, SAC Ahmedabad & URSC Bengaluru. work on such Activities which include:
- Building and launching model rockets, CANSAT experiments & DIY kit assembly.
- Direct Q&A sessions and mentorship from senior ISRO scientists and researchers.
- Tours of high tech laboratories to observe real satellite design and launch vehicle technology.
- Extracurriculars such as yoga, sports & cultural field trips
Finacial support by ISRO:
ISRO fully sponsors the programme for selected students, It will cover Travel such asReimbursement for II AC train fare or equivalent bus fare, Accommodation like Free lodging and boarding at the respective ISRO centres & All course and study materials are provided at no cost…
