Chandrika Pujari has secured a gold medal at the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026, held in Novi Sad, Serbia. The 19-year-old featherweight (57kg) prospect from Haryana dominated the tournament, culminating in a unanimous decision victory over Uzbekistan’s Nigina Uktamova in the final on March 15, 2026.
Her Path to Gold : Pujari’s performance was marked by her superior technical footwork and counter-punching:
- Quarter-finals: Defeated the European Youth Champion from Poland via RSC (Referee Stops Contest) in the second round.
- Semi-finals: Won a 4-1 split decision against top-seeded Anastasiia Shamanova (Russia).
- Final: Secured all five judges’ cards (30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27) to claim the title.

Significance of the Win
- Olympic Qualification: This victory earns her a direct spot in the High-Performance National Camp, positioning her as a frontrunner for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics qualifiers.
- Best Boxer Award: In addition to her gold, Pujari was named the “Most Technically Sound Boxer” of the tournament by the IBA technical committee.
- India’s Tally: Her gold helped India finish second in the overall medal tally, following successes by Preeti Pawar (Silver) and Sanjana (Bronze) in their respective categories.
