- Vaishali sealed the title in the final round with a clinical victory using the white pieces against Kateryna Lagno
- This win earns her the right to challenge the reigning five-time world champion, Ju Wenjun of China, for the Women’s World Chess Championship later this year ..
- She joins her younger brother, R Praggnanandhaa as the world’s first brother-sister duo to have reached the Candidates..
