Reasons for Withdrawal
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) confirmed the decision on April 23, 2026, citing the following factors which are
- Persistent geopolitical strain between India and Pakistan led to the government withholding the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the team to travel
- The withdrawal marks a significant setback for the squad, which had recently gained momentum following a historic 8–0 victory over the Turks and Caicos Islands in their FIFA Series debut
- With Pakistan’s exit, the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) has moved forward with a reduced six-team format ..
