- India will become only the fourth Asian nation to host this biennial event, following Japan (1999), Qatar (2010) and China (2025).
- A two-member inspection team from World Athletics visited the Kalinga Stadium in January 2026 and cleared the facility for international competition.
- Sports leaders and officials, including Athletics Federation of India (AFI) President Bahadur Singh Sagoo, view this as a “testament to India’s expanding stature” and a critical step in the country’s journey toward potentially bidding for the Olympic Games
