Kathua Border Villages Added to Vibrant Village Programme-II

On April 25, 2026 , In a major development for border infrastructure, six strategically located villages in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir were added to the Central Government’s Vibrant Village Programme-II (VVP-II) ..

1. The initiative aims to achieve 100% saturation of welfare schemes and significantly boost public services in these sensitive frontier areas along the International Border..
2. The selection was finalised during a review meeting chaired by Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma. The six villages include : Bobiya , Kadyala , Gajna , Karol Krishna , Rathu & Gujjar Chak..

Key Development Goals :

The program focuses on transforming these remote locations into model habitations by addressing critical infrastructure gaps..

1. Enhancement of all-weather road connectivity and on-grid electrification
2. Implementation of 4G telecom services and improved television access via DTH facilities..
3.  Creation of socio-economic opportunities through skill development and promotion of local tourism & culture..
4. Ensuring last-mile delivery of flagship schemes for healthcare, education & drinking water.

 Implementation & Monitoring of Scheme

To ensure the sustainability of these initiatives, the Kathua District Administration has mandated:

1. Departments must conduct on-ground gap analysis to identify specific local needs it improve Field level verifcation ..
2. Close monitoring to ensure time-bound execution of village action plans and reprsent inter departmental coordination ..
3. Engaging local stakeholders and holding Special Gram Sabhas to incorporate resident feedback into development plans show commumity Participation ..
