1. Covering 22 regional languages & the scheme offers ₹4 crore annually for 200 events like conferences, workshops etc..
2. Selected institutions receive ₹2 lakh for events focused on 16 emerging domains like AI, Quantum Technology & Cybersecurity ..
3. Aligns with Viksit Bharat 2047 to promote inclusive technical education in native languages and boost research output ..
4.  Inaugurated by AICTE Chairman Prof. Yogesh Singh at the AICTE Headquarters in New Delhi

 Primary Objectives of Vaani Scheme

1.  Making technical education more inclusive for students who are more comfortable in their native languages
2. Developing a robust repository of technical content, research papers, and patents in regional languages 
3. Ensuring students do not feel inferior for using vernacular languages while mastering complex subjects like AI or Quantum Computing
4. Strengthening the local knowledge ecosystem to support India’s vision of becoming a developed natio

Key Features of the Third Edition

The latest iteration of VAANI has expanded significantly compared to earlier versions..

1.  Now covers all languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Sanskrit & others
2.   Focuses on cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science 
3. Quantum Technology and Supercomputing
4. Hydrogen Energy and Sustainable Materials 
5. Space & Defence and Agrotech
6. Cybersecurity and Manufacturing 4.0
7. At least one-third of the resource persons for each event must have an industry background to ensure practical relevance

Eligibility and Application

1. Must be AICTE-approved. Preference is given to those with high NIRF rankings, NBA accreditation, or a minimum of 10 years of existence
2. For the current cycle, applications are open from April 18 to May 17, 2026
3. All proposals must be submitted through the AICTE-ATAL portal..
4. Since its launch, the VAANI scheme has already facilitated the publication of over 200 research papers in Indian languages, helping democratize technical expertise across the country
